Alex Ray
Before this work, I spent 10 years as a writer and photographer in international development and humanitarian settings.
My work took me into communities around the world, documenting both beauty and hardship. Again and again I witnessed something that couldn't be explained by circumstance alone – a quiet resilience, an essential humanity that remained even through trauma.
Humbled by this capacity within the human spirit, I began to dedicate my time to honoring that and cultivating it within myself, and as my fundamental framework for encountering life.
Through training in somatic meditation and Zen Buddhism I consistently came back to the realisation that empowering the authentic parts of ourselves was less about learning something new and more about revealing the foundations that have always been with us.
Today I offer a trauma-informed practice where that remembering can unfold gently, with guidance and compassion.
The Practice
The Realization Process® is a subtle, embodied approach to meditation developed by Judith Blackstone.
Rather than asking us to escape the body, it invites us to inhabit it more fully.
At the heart of the practice is the experience of fundamental consciousness – a unified field of awareness that permeates both body and environment. As we learn to rest within this deeper ground of being, we often discover a sense of wholeness, openness, and connection that is not dependent on circumstances.
From this embodied presence, habitual patterns of holding can begin to soften. Traumatic constrictions that have shaped the body over time may gradually release, allowing for greater ease, vitality, and a more authentic experience of ourselves.
This unfolding is gentle and individual. Rather than striving to fix ourselves, the practice supports a gradual return to the natural openness that has always been present beneath our protective patterns.
Services
-
Individual sessions offer a quiet, supportive space to explore the Realization Process at your own pace. Together we work with embodied meditation practices that cultivate grounded presence, helping you reconnect with the deeper field of awareness that underlies experience.
Sessions are tailored to your needs and can be attended in person in Austinmer or online, making the practice accessible wherever you are. -
Practising in a small group offers a unique opportunity to experience the relational dimension of embodied presence as well as the experience of healing within a shared field of experience.
As each person settles more fully into themselves, many discover a natural sense of connection that extends beyond individual experience.
The shared field created through group practice can deepen self-awareness, foster belonging, and gently reveal how authentic presence supports both ourselves and our relationships with others.
No previous meditation experience is required.
Currently small group classes are offered in Austinmer and online.
